02/11/08    Somersall Rangers 2 - 2 Junior Blues

 

What a great match between to very strong sides! Somersall started the game under a bit of pressure from Chesterfield Junior Blues but they were unable to get past the fantastic defenders which were Finley Davies, Patryk Goral and James Whibberley who all had a brilliant game. But Somersall started to apply pressure with shots from Alex Fletcher and Oliver Ball that just went wide. But the pressure paid of late in the first half which started with a corner from Alex Wainwright who crossed a fantastic ball which fell to the feet of Ewan Edwards who placed the ball in the bottom corner 1-0 Somersall! Somersall continued to put pressure on Chesterfield who couldn't withstand it and Somersall capitalised on a bad pass from one of their strikers which fell straight to Patryk Goral who played a fantastic ball to Ewan Edwards who did a fantastic turn round the keeper to pass the ball into an open net 2-0 Somersall! The second half began with Chesterfield applying the pressure and Somersall dealt with it until Chesterfield pulled a goal back with a good finish into the top corner 2-1! Still Somersall had to cope with heavy pressure from Chesterfield but somehow kept them away. Finley Davies was forced to come off because of a pulled groin which he got from clearing the ball. The game eased of a bit until Ewan Edwards swung a great cross into the box which was met by the head of Daniel Waller but it just went wide. Somersall thought they had wrapped the game up when their goalie dropped the ball into the back of the net but the referee said it didn't cross the line. Somersall conceded a corner in the last seconds of the game which was crossed in and their striker had free header which looped over the head of David Knight 2-2! The full time whistle went and Chesterfield looked like they had just won the cup they were so relieved! Man of the Match was awarded to Ewan Edwards who put in a great performance and never stopped battling all game. Fantastic team effort from all the Somersall players, GREAT PERFORMANCE!

 

25/10/08    Chesterfield Town 0 - 2 S/Sall Rngs

 

The game got off to a lively start with an early shot from Ewan Edwards that just went wide. Somersall kept applying the pressure and it nearly paid off but Alex Wainwrights shot struck the post. Great build up play lead to the opening goal from Ewan Edwards who was set up by Alex Wainwright. The 2nd half got off to a slow start but Somersall kept applying the pressure with a shot from Luke Russell which scraped the outside of the post. Chesterfield town had a few shots which didn't trouble stand in keeper Oliver Ball who had a great game. Another fantastic piece of build up play which started with Finley Davies playing a great ball down the left wing to Luke Russell who played a good ball across the area which wasn't dealt with and fell to the feet of James Potter who drilled the ball into the top corner.

Great performance from Somersall and the man of the match was handed to Liam Hoole who never stopped running all game. Great performance

 

18/10/08  Somersall Rangers 3 - 0 Hasland Comm

 

Good result for the team and a great team effort! controlled the game and had most of the possession. Goals came from Oliver Ball, Patryk Goral and Alex Wainwright. Man of Match was given to Daniel Waller who gave a heroic performance!

 

11/10/08  Brampton Rovers Boys 1 - 0 S/Sall Rngs

 

The first half saw Somersall go 1-0 down despite a fantastic attempt at saving it by Ewan Edwards. The latter half of the first half saw Somersall start to pressurise Brampton through attacking non stop. From this point on, there were shot after shot at goal by Alex Fletcher, Finley Davies, Luke Russell, Riley Caunt, Daniel Waller, Oliver Ball, Alex Wainwright and James Potter. Unfortunately for Somersall, the Brampton keeper had an outstanding match and saved them all! Excellent work in defence by Finley Davies, Patryk Goral and Louis Rouse stopped any further attempts at goal by Brampton. Despite the score, it was a fantastic game which led to James Whibberley taking Man of the Match for his amazing work in defence and midfield.

Excellent goals from Alex Fletcher, Daniel Waller, Ewan Edwards & Riley Caunt.

Man of the Match was Alex Fletcher.

 

 

20/09/08    Somersall Rangers 2 - 0 Barlborough Jnrs

 

Fantastic start to the season! Excellent play from both teams. Somersall was captained by Louis Rouse who did a fine job. The first half saw some fantastic skill and energy from Somersall Rangers and about 10 chances narrowly missing the goal but finally Patryk Goral managed to clear the keeper and hit the back of the net. Second half saw some substitutions and some excellent play with a cross from Riley Caunt to a waiting Luke Russell who turned and scored the second goal. Excellent work in defence throughout the match limited Barlboroughs chances of equalising however, they kept on pushing and making Somersall work hard. Man of the match was Liam Hoole for his outstanding play in a position he does not usually play in.
